Carlo A. Wood | Creator

Howdy! My name is Carlo Alexander Wood, and I am a student at the George Washington University. I sing and dance in my spare time. I'm a gay man. A goofy and cheesy hopeless romantic. I am an aspiring full-time gladiator in a suit, and part time barista at Starbucks. I'm also black. Ebony. Ethnic. Rich. Beautiful. Above all things, I am attempting to be the man my father never was by doing the things he never wanted to do. I seek to educate and be educated. I hold myself and those around me accountable. And most importantly, I forgive the past. By no means do I do all of these things perfectly! I'm still learning- trust me!. It is a pleasure that you THINK what I have to say is worth reading-- Thank you! No matter who you are, you have something to say! I have something to learn! We all have something to share! Here's my story...so what's yours?

I decided to create Black Ink after being inpsiried by my recent acceptance to study abroad in Australia! Having the opportunity to experience the culture of another country for an extended period of time is priceless for both personal and professional growth. However, I am not looking for growth that will inevietablly come. I'm looking for answers. My main question: Why am I, a black man, proud to be an American. In the United States, being an "African American" is an oxymoron about privledge that I am taking a journey to figure out. WIth that being said, Black Ink will seek to share with you my perspective and experiences as a black man in today's society through journal postings, news articles, and the celebration of #BlackExcellence all of the world. Look at it as an opportunity to THINK BLACK, ya know? :)
